Susanne FröhlichSusanne Fröhlich was born in Passau in 1979 and started her recorder lessons in 1985 with Inge Reinelt. She won several prizes at the youth competition Jugend musiziert, first prizes at the 1st International Recorder Competition Engelskirchen 1997 and the Internatiaonale Blokfluitdagen Utrecht in 1998 and got a scholarship for recorder, piano and music theory lessons from the music school in 1995. Next to that she took part in many master classes with e.g. Han Tol, Walter van Hauwe, Marion Verbruggen, Antonio Politano, Vier Op En Rij, and the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet and started studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Paul Leenhouts in 1998. Because of her main interest in contemporary music, Susanne took part in some premiere pieces which were performed in
places like Paradiso, De Ijsbreker, Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), De Kicker (Utrecht), Korzo (Den Haag),
Les Bains and Plateau (Brussel).
In July 2000 Susanne won a scholarship for extraordinary interpretations of modern music at the Internationaler
Ferienkurs für Neue Musik in Darmstadt.
In June 2002 Susanne got her solo diploma and continued her musical carrier with the master of music studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Paul Leenhouts. In these two years she was busy on working together with composers, instrumentalists and especially artists from other disciplines to create New Media performances. In February 2003 Susanne’s ensemble QNG won the 2nd prize at the renowned International Gaudeamus Competition for Contemporary Music in Rotterdam, the 1st prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Illzach in March 2003, the Grand Prix at the International Competition of Contemporary Music in Krakow in September 2003 and the 1st prize, together with a two year management contract and a DVD recording prize at the Concert Artist Guild Competition in New York in March 2004. In June 2004 Susanne got her Master of Music Diploma with distinction and started her concert exam studies with Gerd Lünenbürger at the UdK in Berlin with the main focus on solo literature and performance. Furthermore did Susanne become a member of the European Recorder Player Society and organized the 1st European Recorder Performance Festival in October 2004 together with Paul Leenhouts, Susanna Borsch, Erik Bosgraaf and Maria Martinez. Since September 2004 she is living in Berlin.
